BIOGRAPHY OF JAMES SPENCE, JR.

 

 

James Spence , Jr. is a native of Park Hall , Maryland . He is a graduate of Great Mills High School in Great Mills, Maryland . He received an A.A. Degree from Emmanuel College in 1981 and a B.A. Degree from Emmanuel College School for Christian Ministries in 1983. Both schools are located in Franklin Springs , GA. Also, he has completed the required course of study with the Evangelical Teacher Training Association (ETTA) to receive an Evangelical Teacher Training Diploma, awarded in 1983.

He was called to the ministry at the age of 16. His initial sermon was preached on June 25, 1978 at the former House of God-Gates of Heaven in Park Hall , Maryland. under the leadership of the late Bishop John Clifton.

Several years after graduating from college and serving under the leadership of Bishop Clifton, James received the call of God to begin Praise and Deliverance Fellowship, now Oasis of Victory Christian Church International. He was challenged by God to reach those men and women that were being overlooked by others. He was also challenged by God to preach and teach the uncompromised Word of God that will tear down the walls of religion and tradition.

Pastor Spence's ministry reaches even into the community. He is the host of the weekly broadcast of “Empowering Your World” which can be seen and heard locally on cable television.

He has served on the Board of Directors of Community Development Corporation, the advisory board of the Family Self-Sufficiency, and a member of the Community Service Committee and other groups that deal with the disadvantaged.

He is currently resides in Lexington Park , Maryland with his wife, Tanesha who shares in this ministry and their daughter, Courtney.

Inspite of all of his accomplishments, he believes that “if it ain't about Jesus, it doesn't mean a thing.”

Tanesha Y. Spence, affectionately known as Lady Tanesha, is the wife of James O. Spence Jr., Pastor of Oasis of Victory Christian Church International, Lexington Park , Maryland . Lady Tanesha serves in ministry along side her husband. They are the proud parents of Toni and Courtney.

She also serves honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer currently stationed at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.

She has served in the military for sixteen years and has been stationed in Annapolis , Maryland ; Whidbey Island , Washington ; Misawa , Japan ; and Patuxent River , Maryland . Some of her accomplishments include being selected as Senior Sailor of the Quarter in 1999, Sailor of the Year in 2004, and being selected as Chief Petty Officer in September 2005. Lady Tanesha received her Associates Degree in May 2004 in Criminal Justice and General Studies from College of Southern Maryland .

While she serves in various duties throughout the ministry she enjoys encouraging women and teenagers to tap into the Anointing and Grace of God to fulfill their God given purpose while here on earth She is the W.O.W. (Women Of Word) Senior Coordinator. W.O.W. is a Bible based ministry that personifies the Titus 2 principle – women in the Word of God and by fellowshipping with other Faith believers.

Lady Tanesha is devoted to the vision of the ministry, “CHANGING LIVES WITH THE UNCOMPROMISED WORD OF GOD WHEREBY PERFECTING THE SAINTS IN A NON-TRADITIONAL MINISTRY”.
